KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index has extended gains for third straight session, adding 47.75 points to close at 1,907.95 points on Sunday – the first trading day of the week.
The market opened for trading at 1,859.74 points. Although the benchmark index dipped in the initial trade, it picked up thereafter and continued the momentum throughout the day to eventually close trading 2.56% higher.
Share prices of 214 companies increased on the day, while 23 declined, and three remained unchanged. Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 116.66 million worth of shares traded. Reliance Nepal Life Insurance Ltd and Nabil Bank Ltd were next on the list with turnovers of Rs 75.67 million and Rs 73.71 million, respectively.
All the trading groups ended the day in green with the maximum gain coming from Life Insurance sub-index, which went up by 4.44%. Following closely were Non-life Insurance and Trading sub-indices with gains of 3.67% and 3.58%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 2.01 billion were traded on the bourse on Sunday.
