Nepse closes 45.98 points higher, breaches 2,100-point mark

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index breached the psychological 2,100-point mark, gaining 45.98 points to close at 2,106.48 points on Tuesday.

With this gain, the benchmark index continued its winning run for the sixth straight session.

Share prices of 183 companies increased on the day, while 53 declined, and seven remained unchanged. Shivam Cement Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day, with Rs 374.34 million worth of shares traded. Next on the list were Soaltee Hotels Ltd and Sonapur Oil and Minerals Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 287.32 million and Rs 167.14 million, respectively. Share prices of 11 companies hit the positive circuit of 10% on the day.

All the trading groups ended the day in green. The biggest gain came from the Hotel & Tourism index, which was up by 6.94%. Manufacturing & Processing and Life Insurance sub-indices were next on the list with gains of 4.74% and 3.12%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 5.98 billion were traded on the bourse through 99,641 transactions on the day. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.26 trillion.
