KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 4.63 points, closing the last trading day of the week at 2,586.23 points on Thursday.
Share prices of 156 companies advanced during the session, while 77 declined and 11 remained unchanged. Prabhu Mahalaxmi Insurance Limited (Promoter Shares) logged the highest turnover of the session, with shares worth Rs 461.74 million traded. Next were Nyadi Group Power Ltd and Himalayan Distillery Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 207.24 million and Rs 118.58 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, five posted losses, while eight ended the session in green. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 2.03%. On the other hand, the Development Bank sub-index logged the highest gains of 2.4%.
Hydropower stocks dominated the market on Thursday, with Rs 1.63 billion worth of shares traded through 21,437 transactions.
Daily turnover improved slightly to Rs 4.60 billion on Thursday, compared to Rs 3.52 billion on Wednesday.
