KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended 28.68 points lower and ended the last trading day of the week at 1,972.09 points on Thursday.
The market opened for trading at 2,001.02 points initially posted gains. However, it lost momentum as the day progressed and eventually closed the day 1.43% lower.
Share prices of 17 companies advanced on the day while 220 declined and 11 remained unchanged. Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd logged the highest turnover of Rs 111.31 million. Joshi Hydropower Company and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 101.43 million and Rs 80.33 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, all the sub-indices ended the day in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 2.31%. Hydropower and Trading sub-indices were next losing 2.62% and 2.51%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 2.59 billion were traded on the bourse through 48,340 transactions.
