Nepse closes 25.41 points lower; turnover drops to Rs 3.99 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 25.41 points, closing trading on the first day of the week at 2,609.67 points on Sunday.

The benchmark index slid right after trading began and continued the downward journey throughout the session and eventually closed 0.96% lower.

Unit prices of 194 scrips declined during the session, while 43 advanced and six remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure and Development logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 204.15 million worth of shares traded. Next were Sindhu Bikash Bank and Singati Hydro Energy Ltd with turnovers of Rs 188.02 million and Rs 164.95 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, all sub-indices logged losses on the day. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 3.6%. Development Bank and Hydropower sub-indices with losses of 1.6% and 1.44%, respectively.

Daily turnover fell by nearly half to Rs 3.99 billion on Sunday, compared to Rs 7.23 billion of the previous session.
