KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) recorded a loss of 14.46 points, closing the last trading day of the week at 2,062.03 points.
Although the market initially appeared poised to extend its gains on the second day, the Nepse index eventually ended the day 0.69% lower. Share prices of 163 companies declined, while 79 advanced, and seven remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd continued to lead the chart of highest turnovers, with shares worth Rs 228.57 million traded, ahead of Sagarmatha Jalvidyuth Company Ltd and Joshi Hydropower Development Company, which led with turnovers of Rs 115.96 million and Rs 107.55 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, all the trading groups except Manufacturing & Processing ended the day in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 2.71%. Others and Development Bank were next with losses of 1.62% and 1.4%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 3.87 billion were traded on the bourse through 81,056 transactions on Thursday.
