KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) returned to winning ways on Wednesday, gaining 10.87 points to close at 2,633.76.
The index had snapped a three-day gaining streak in the previous session, when it fell by 10.53 points.
The benchmark moved into positive territory soon after trading began. Although momentum weakened at times, the index climbed to an intraday high of 2,643.59 points. It later pared some gains but still ended the session up 0.41%.
The share prices of 163 scrips advanced during the session, while those of 89 declined and eight remained unchanged. Green Ventures Ltd topped the turnover chart, with shares worth Rs 177.9 million traded. Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Ltd and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Ltd followed, posting turnovers of Rs 158.83 million and Rs 135.84 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 5.13 billion with 11.94 units traded through 69,981 transactions.
All sectoral indices closed higher. Manufacturing & Processing led the gains, up 1.61%, followed by Hotels & Tourism and Life Insurance, which rose 0.92% and 0.53%, respectively.
