Nepse back to winning ways; gains 34.29 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted gains of 34.29 points to close trading at 2,957.75 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark index, which snapped a four-day gaining streak losing 8.18 points on Tuesday, returned to winning ways during the session despite dropping to an intra-day low of 2,884.53  points after an hour of trading.

Unit prices of 156 companies advanced on the day, while 79 declined, and eight remained unchanged. Share prices of nine companies hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with shares worth Rs 865.85 million traded. Next were Shivam Cement and Api Power Company, with turnovers of Rs 842.97 million and Rs 755.94 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, 10 posted gains, while three ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 7.67%. The Development Bank and Investment sub-indices posted notable gains of 3.07% and 2.49%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 23.43 billion were traded on the bourse through 244,019 transactions on Wednesday. Market capitalization reached Rs 4.69 trillion.
