KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index failed to sustain its positive momentum and closed 14.53 points lower at 2,647.07 on Monday.
The benchmark index had posted gains for two straight sessions, ending a four-day winning run, lifting investor sentiment. However, Monday’s loss has poured cold water on their hopes for a sustained positive run.
Total turnover also fell to Rs 8.91 billion with 23.68 million units of shares traded through 76,998 transactions.
Share prices of 167 companies declined during the session, while 78 advanced. Ngadi Group Power Ltd continued to lead the top turnover chart with Rs 709.47 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Universal Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 451 million and Rs 381.30 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, only two – Finance and Trading sub-indices – posted gains, while the remaining 11 ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Investment sub-index, which was down by 2.14%.
