KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index returned to winning ways after two days of losses, closing 22.04 points higher at 2,705.90 points on Wednesday.
The gain also propelled the benchmark index above the psychological 2,700-point level.
Unit prices of 199 companies advanced during the session, while 49 declined. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 467.14 million worth of shares traded. Next were Butwal Power Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd with turnovers of Rs 366.74 million and Rs 351.82 million, respectively.
Total turnover improved to Rs 7.45 billion compared to the previous session as 15.82 million units were traded on the bourse through 62,8834 transactions.
Except for Finance and Mutual Fund sub-indices, which posted marginal losses, all other sub-indices ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Banking sub-index, which rose by 1.9%. Next were the Investment and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, which gained 1.5% and 1.02%, respectively.
