KATHMANDU: Bibek Khatri, a youth from Bardiya fighting on the Russian side, has been taken prisoner by the Ukrainian Armed Force near Avdiivka.
In a tweet post, Anton Gerashchenko, the advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said Khatri signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence and served in one of the Russian Airborne Forces brigades.
In the video shared by Gerashchenko, Khatri can be heard saying: “My family is in trouble. My mother doesn’t work. We needed money, so I went for it.”
Bibek says in the video that he joined the Russian army at the suggestion of his friends. “It’s more than money. I wanted to return to my mom as a successful man. So, I joined,” he can be heard saying in the video.
