Nepali women’s team settles for silver in Kho Kho World Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepali women’s team settled for Silver medal in the inaugural 2024 Kho Kho World Cup after falling to India 40-78 in the final at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

India dominated the early stages, taking a commanding 34-0 lead after the first turn. Nepal showed resilience in the second turn, mounting a comeback to narrow the gap to 35-22. However, India reasserted their dominance in the third turn, extending their lead to 73-24, before ultimately clinching the match 75-38.

This was Nepali women’s team’s first defeat in the 2024 World Cup. The women’s team secured its place in the final by defeating Uganda 89-18 in the semifinal. It earlier beat Iran 103-8 in the quarterfinal. Nepal qualified to knock-out round as the Group winner defeating Bhutan 93-24, Germany 73-34, Sri Lanka 110-10 and Bangladesh 84-24.
