
KATHMANDU: The Nepali men’s national cricket team left for Hong Kong on Monday to participate in the Hong Kong International Quadrangular T20 Series.
The series, which also features hosts Hong Kong as well as Qatar and Kuwait, kicks off on Wednesday.
Former national team captain Gyanendra Malla will take charge of the Nepali team in the series as new Head Coach Stuart Law has not joined the team yet. Malla recently led the Nepal ‘A’ team as the coach.
Nepal kicks off the series against Qatar on April 9, followed by matches against Kuwait on April 10 and Hong Kong on April 12. The top two teams will advance to the final, while the bottom two will vie for third place.
Lokesh Bam, Shahab Alam and Basir Ahmed are returning to the national squad, thanks to their strong performance in the recently held PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament. Likewise, Nandan Yadav has earned his first call-up to the national team.
