Nepali men’s, women’s team playing for Kho Kho World Cup title

KATHMANDU: Nepali men’s and women’s teams have advanced to the 2024 Kho Kho World Cup finals.

Both teams will play their final matches on Sunday evening at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. While the women’s final will begin at 7 pm, the men’s final is scheduled for 8:15 pm.

The women’s team secured its place in the final by defeating Uganda 89-18 in the first semifinal. Likewise, the men’s team advanced to the final by defeating Iran 72-20.

The women’s team qualified for the quarter-finals as Group ‘C winners after defeating Bhutan 93-24, Germany 73-34, Sri Lanka 110-10, and Bangladesh 84-24. Nepal then dominated Iran 103-8 in the quarterfinals.

Similarly, the men’s team entered the final by defeating Iran 72-20.  Although Nepal suffered a

37-42 loss to India in the group stage, it outclassed Peru (80–34), Brazil (134–8) and Bhutan (98–8) in the group stage, before overcoming Bangladesh 67–18 in the quarter-finals.

Both teams will meet India in the final.
