KATHMANDU: Three Nepali women cricketers won individual honors at the Malaysian Super Women League 2024.
Sita Rana Magar was declared Player of the Tournament for her all-round performance, while Rubina Chhetry was adjudged the Best Bowler and Puja Mahato the best batter. Sita scored 150 runs and took eight wickets. Rubina Chetry was the highest run-getter in the series with 194 runs, followed by compatriots Kabita Kunwar (153 runs) and Sita Rana Magar (150 runs). Likewise, Puja Mahato was the highest wicket-taker with nine wickets followed by Sita Rana Magar with eight.
The tournament featured five franchise sides. Western Wonder Womens lifted the title of the inaugural women’s T20 competition defeating Southern Jaguars by five runs on Sunday. Batting first, Western Wonder Womens scored 100 runs for the loss of six wickets and then contained Southern Jaguar for 95 runs. Sita Rana Magar scored 19 off 27 balls and took two wickets giving 19 runs in her four-over spell.
Six Nepali players played in the tournament. Indu Barma captained Northern Queens which also had Ashmina Karmacharya. Similarly, Kabitwa Kunwar played for Southern Jaguars, Puja Mahato for Central Super Girls, Sita Rana Matar for Western Wonder Women’s and Rubina Chhetri for Eastern Lioness.
