KATHMANDU: Nepal crashed out of the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship, conceding a 4-0 defeat to Bangladesh in their final round-robin match at the Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday.
Nepal, which needed to win the fixture with a huge margin after India hammered Bhutan 8-0 earlier in the day, suffered a heavy loss against the defending champions.
Bangladesh had defeated Nepal in the final to claim the trophy in the 2024 edition of the championship.
Alpi Akter starred for Bangladesh with a hat-trick, while Protima Munda added one goal to seal the win.
The win marked Bangladesh’s third consecutive victory in the tournament. They earlier humbled Bhutan 12-0 and India 2-0.
Nepal, on the other hand, lost their first match 0-1 to India, before winning their fixture against Bhutan 2-1.
Bangladesh will meet India in the final to be played on Saturday.
