KATHMANDU: The Nepal Startup and SME Conference kicked off in Lalitpur on Wednesday.
The Nepali Congress (NC) is organizing the two-day conference, which will feature discussions across various sessions on six different topics, including economic transformation through innovation and entrepreneurship. According to the party, the conference aims to build a network of youth who contribute to entrepreneurship and economic growth, promote policy reforms, and increase the promotion and sales of local products through exhibitions.
Addressing the inaugural session, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the conference presents an opportunity for new investors. “This event will encourage local entrepreneurship through the exhibition of various new products and services, inspire investors with opportunities, and open new doors of self-employment for the youth grappling with unemployment,” he added.
Deuba expressed confidence that innovation and entrepreneurship could help improve the country’s economic situation, which has been hit by a recession. I am confident that this program will discuss what policies should be formulated to encourage the enterprises of the youth and women communities who are eager to make a difference,” he added.
Coordinator of NC’s Entrepreneurship and SME Development Department, Urmila Thapaliya, said that the conference would contribute to promoting Nepal’s digital economy and encouraging small entrepreneurs. “The conference will facilitate the disbursement of knowledge among participants from various fields through learning, experiences and ideas,” Thapaliya said.
