Nepal promoted in Myanmar

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Yangon last week organized a tourism promotional on the theme ‘Nepal: A Destination for Lifetime Experiences.”

Issuing a statement, the Nepali mission in Yangon said Venerable Senior Monks Professor Dr Ashin Nandaka and Ashin Pyin Nyar Wun Tha jointly inaugurated the event by lighting an oil lamp.

In his welcome speech, Charge d’affaires Khuman Singh Tamang said that Nepal is open to international tourists after bringing the COVID-19 situation under control. “Tourism is reviving and is thriving again,” he said, informing the visitors about popular tourist destinations of Nepal.

According to the mission, over 50,000 tourists from Myanmar visit Nepal every year.

Sharing the experience of his Nepal visit, Dr Nandaka said Nepal is a country one should visit at least once to get inner peace. Snowy mountains, terrain and lakes in Nepal bring peace to mind, he added.

Similarly, Daw Khaing Thazin Hnin, the managing Director of Khin Nanda Travels who has visited Nepal more than 20 times, recommended tourists from Myanmar to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. “Not just Lumbini, there are many places to visit in Nepal. Mountain flights over Mt Everest, paragliding in Pokhara, and white water rafting in Trishuli River are the best for adventure and breathtaking views,” she added.

Likewise, Myanmar Academy Award-winning actress Ms. Yoon Yoon said she was eager to visit
Nepal.

On the occasion, artists performed cultural dances of Nepal. Likewise, videos of Nepali tourism and cultural attractions were also showed during the event.

The event saw participation of around 200 people, including ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of travel and tour
companies, prominent personalities in Myanmar and the Nepali diaspora, according to the statement.
