KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 15-member to play in the 19th Asian Games.
CAN has left five members who were named for the Asia Cup – Bhim Sharki, Aaarif Sheikh, Arjun Saud, Kishore Mahato, Mausam Dhakal – and included Bibek Kumar Yadav, Abinash Bohora and Binod Bhandari in the team.
Nepal is placed in Group ‘A’ which also includes the Maldives and Mongolia. Nepal can reach the quarterfinal if it wins the group.
Four test-playing Asian nations – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh – have already booked their spot in the quarterfinal. These teams, however, won’t send their senior team.
Nepal will play its first game against Mongolia at Pingfeng Cricket Field on September 27, while it will play its second game against the Maldives on October 1.
