Nepal gets 146-run target to reach Super Six

KATHMANDU: Nepal has restricted Afghanistan to 145 runs in its final group-stage match of the 2024 ICC U-19 World Cup.

Batting first after winning the toss at East London, South Africa, on Friday, Afghanistan scored 145 runs losing all wickets in 40.1 overs. AM Zhazanfar top-scored for Afghanistan with a 21-ball 37, while Captain Naseer Khan Marrofkhil contributed 31 runs from 83 balls. Faridoon Dawoodzai and Hussaan Eisakhil scored 29 and 20 runs, respectively. Other Afhani batters failed to reach double-dights with four of them out on duck.

Aakash Chand took five wickets to bundle out Afghanistan cheaply, while Dipesh Kandel claimed two, and Glsan Jha, Subash Bhandari and Tilak Bhandari took one each.

The winner of this fixture will qualify for the Super Six stage together with Pakistan and New Zealand.
