Nepal drawn alongside Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam in Asian Cup Qualifiers

KATHMANDU: Nepal has been placed in Group F alongside Vietnam, Laos, and Malaysia for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.

The draw for the Asian Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027 took place at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday.

According to the fixtures released by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), all teams will face each other twice in the group stage. Nepal is scheduled to play against Laos on June 10 and March 31, 2026, against Vietnam on October 9 and 14, 2026, and against Malaysia on March 25 and November 18.

A total of 24 nations are competing in the Qualifiers. They are divided into six groups of four teams each. The winners of each group will join 18 other countries which have already qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup.

Among South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) members, Maldives is in Group A with the Philippines, Tajikistan, and Timor-Leste. Bhutan is in Group B alongside Yemen, Lebanon, and Brunei, while India and Bangladesh are in Group C with Hong Kong and Singapore.

Sri Lanka has been placed in Group D with Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei, and Thailand, while Pakistan is in Group E with Syria, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.

Eighteen other countries have already qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
