Nepal drawn alongside India, Kuwait

KATHMANDU: Nepal is drawn alongside hosts India and invited side Kuwait in the SAFF Championship to be held in Bangalore, India, from June 21 to July 4.

In the draw held on Wednesday, Nepal is placed in Group A which also includes Pakistan. Meanwhile, Group B consists of the Maldives, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and the invited side Lebanon. Sri Lanka will not be participating in the tournament as it remains suspended by FIFA.

India holds the record for the most SAFF Championship wins, with eight titles to their name. Nepal has reached the final once before but was defeated by India 3-0 in the SAFF Championship 2021 held in Male, the Maldives.

Nepal will take on Kuwait in the event’s inaugural match at Sri Kanteerava Stadium on June 21. Nepal will play its second game against India on June 24, while it will play its last league match against Pakistan on June 27.
