Nepal defeats Uganda by one wicket

KATHMANDU: Nepali women’s team defeated Uganda by one wicket in the Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series in Entebbe, Uganda, on Sunday.

Batting first, Uganda scored 75 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 19.5 overs. In reply, Nepal chased down the target, scoring 76 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi top-scored for Uganda with a 40-ball 22. Stephani Nampiina contributed 14 off 25 balls, while Malisa Ariokot scored 11 runs.

Puja Mahato claimed three wickets for Nepal, while Indu Barma took two.

Chasing 76 runs for their first victory in the series, Nepal’s openers Samjhana Khadka and Sana Praveen scored 8 and 17 runs, respectively. Puja Mahato contributed 16, and Rubina Chhetri scored a run-a-ball 10.

Janet Mbabazi took three wickets for Uganda, while Sarah Walaza claimed two.

Nepal had lost its first match against Namibia by six wickets with one ball remaining (under the DLS method) on Saturday. The team will play its next match against Hong Kong on Monday.
