Nepal defeats Laos 1-0, enters 2nd round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers

KATHMANDU: Nepal has entered the Second Round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier, defeating Laos 1-0 in the second leg of the fixture played at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane on Tuesday.

Manish Dangi scored the only goal of the match from inside the six-yard box from Anjan Bista’s cross in the 53rd minute of the match.

Nepal and Laos played a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Nepal will now face UAE, Bahrain and Yemen in the 2nd Round of Qualification. The seocnd round matches will be played between November 16 and June 11, 2024. Nepal will host Yemen on November 21, Bahrain on March 21 and UAE on June 6. Similarly, it will play away matches in UAE on November 16, Bahrain on March 26 and Yemen on June 11.
