Nepal Day celebrated in Dubai

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi organized ‘Nepal Hospital’ in Dubai’s Creek Park on Sunday.

Minister of Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, was the main guest of the event, which celebrated Nepali art, culture, tourism, trade and identity.

Organized for the first time under the patronage and coordination of the Nepali embassy, in collaboration with the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) UAE, Nepali Society UAE, and other Nepali community organizations in the UAE, the festival highlighted Nepal’s rich heritage.

Addressing the event, Minister Paudel said that Nepal, with its natural beauty and cultural richness, should promote its unique traditions, language, literature, music, art and tourism globally to promote the nation’s tourism industry and secure a prosperous future for its people. He urged foreign citizens from friendly nations to visit Nepal at least once to experience its natural splendor and cultural diversity.

Likewise, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, said that the festival showcased Nepal’s cultural diversity and strengthened Nepal-UAE relations through cultural diplomacy, contributing to the growth of Nepal’s tourism, investment and trade.

Also speaking on the occasion, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), called on Nepalis in the UAE to contribute to Nepal’s economic development, while NRNA UAE President Bikash Shah expressed gratitude to all who made the event a success.

The festival featured traditional Nepali tableaux, dances and performances by renowned artists and the musical group Sursudha from Nepal. Over 50 stalls displayed Nepali cuisine, tourism, handicrafts, and other elements reflecting Nepal’s identity.

The event drew over 40,000 visitors, including UAE officials, foreign diplomats, international professionals, and Nepal supporters, according to a statement issued by the Nepali embassy in Abu Dhabi.
