Nepal certain to be elected as Unified Socialist chair

KATHMANDU: Madhav Kumar Nepal is set to be elected as the Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist) party unopposed.

The other two aspirants for the position, Jhalanath Khanal and Ghanashyam Bhusal, have withdrawn from the race, leaving Nepal as the sole candidate.

A Unified Socialist leader revealed that Bhusal ruled himself out of the race for the position of party chairperson after he was offered the third highest rank in the party.

Khanal has already stated that he will continue in his current role as the party’s Senior Leader – the second-ranked position. Bhusal has requested the position of Senior Vice Chairperson.

Unified Socialist leaders are currently finalizing Bhusal’s responsibilities in the party.
