KATHMANDU: Nepal has entered the semifinal of the 2024 ACC Women’s Premier Cup by defeating Kuwait by four wickets in the rain-affected match in Malaysia on Wednesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Kuwait folded for 73 runs in 20 overs. Nepal, which was given a revised target of 50 runs in 12 overs due to rain, scored 50 runs losing two wickets in 6.5 overs.
Priyada Murali top-scored for Kuwait with 29 runs while Shanthi Balasubrahamanyam and Khadija Khali scored 13 runs each. Three Kuwaiti batters were out for a duck.
Sita Rana Magat took a hat-trick to bundle out Kuwait cheaply, while Rubina Chhetri and Kabita Kunwar took two wickets each.
Indu Barma scored an unbeaten 22 runs for Nepal, while Sita Rana Magar contributed 17 runs. Kabita Joshi remained not out on four runs.
Nepal will meet Malaysia in the semifinal. Malaysia booked a spot in the final by defeating Japan by 16 runs.
