Nepal Army observes UN Day

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) organized a march past event on the occasion of the United Nations Establishment Day (UN Day).

The march past that began from the NA headquarters went through Shahid Gate, the army pavilion, Old Bus Park, Bhadrakali, Tripureshwar and Maitighar before concluding at the NA headquarters.

Chief of the Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma, former army chiefs, generals, and high-ranking military officials and personnel as well as non-military individuals participated in the march past.

The United Nations was established on October 24, 1945. Nepal obtained UN membership on December 14, 1955. Since then, Nepal has been actively engaged in most of the peacekeeping missions of the UN for the past six decades. During the period, a total of 146,623 Nepali peacekeepers have participated in 44 UN missions.
