KATHMANDU: A bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army is inspecting an Airbus A320-251 aircraft operated by Indian carrier Vistara at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, following a bomb threat.

The aircraft, flight number UK 155 which originated from New Delhi, is currently being examined by the Army’s bomb disposal unit, with trained sniffer dogs deployed at the site.

Nepal Army spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC stated that a special explosive ordnance disposal team is conducting a thorough search of the plane. So far, no suspicious items have been found, and all passengers have been safely evacuated. The threat reportedly originated from a call made in New Delhi.

Gyanendra Bhul, the information officer at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), confirmed that hand baggage inspections have been completed, while luggage and cargo checks are ongoing.

According to Indian news portal Mint, other Indian carriers, such as Akasa and IndiGo, also received bomb threats on Tuesday.
