Nepal Army bids farewell to CoAS Sharma

KATHMANDU: Nepal Army organized a special farewell program for Chief of Army (CoAS) Staff Prabhuram Sharma who is retiring after completing his three-year term on September 10.

Speaking on the occasion, Defense Secretary Rameshwar Dangal hailed CoAS Sharma’s contributions to the institutional strengthening, modernization and capacity building of the Nepali Army. Dangal also congratulated Acting CoAS Ashok Raj Sigdel who is set to assume the role, and assured his office’s continued support to further strengthen the cordial relationship between the Ministry of Defense and the Nepali Army.

Likewise, Acting CoAS Sigdel highlighted CoAS Sharma’s balanced life, dignified conduct and ability to handle complex, and that his determination and dedication will always be remembered in the history of the Nepali Army.

Addressing the event, outgoing CoAS Sharma said long-term plans and other organizational achievements during his tenure could be possible through the collective efforts of all rank and file of the Nepal Army. Sharma thanked the Ministry of Defense and all stakeholders who provided continuous support, cooperation and constructive suggestions throughout his tenure.

Earlier, outgoing CoAS Sharma handed over the Nepali Army flag, the Chief of Army Staff’s flag, and the ceremonial baton to incoming CoAS Sigdel. A platoon of Nepal Army presented a guard of honor in honor of outgoing CoAS Sharma.

The event was attended by former defense secretaries, former army chiefs, serving and retired generals of the Nepali Army, chiefs and senior officers of the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department, among others.
