SURKHET: Nearly 200 burn patients received medical check-ups during a three-day free burn treatment camp held at the Karnali Province Hospital in Surkhet.
A total of 194 patients benefited from the camp. Of them, 39 underwent surgeries. One critically injured patient was referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital, Kathmandu, for further surgical treatment.
Earlier, screening camps were conducted at 16 locations in all districts of the province from April 6 to 9.
A total of 183 patients were selected from the screening camps organized by Karnali Provincial Hospital with support from Nabil Bank and technical assistance from Kirtipur Hospital and PHECT Nepal.
According to Kailash Khaki Shrestha, patients referred from screening underwent surgeries at the provincial hospital during the three-day camp. “In addition to those referred from screening camps, other burn patients were also examined during the program,” he added.
All patients were provided with free medicines.
According to Nabil Bank, all services during the camp—including surgeries, transportation, accommodation, and meals for patients and their caretakers—were provided free of cost. Expenses related to post-surgery wound care were also covered.
A team of senior doctors from Kirtipur Hospital, including Dr. Shankar Man Rai and Dr Kiran Nakarmi, participated in the camp.
The program provided treatment for burn injuries as well as conditions such as cleft lip and palate, fused or extra fingers, and trauma-related complications.
