NCP won’t form electoral alliances, Dahal reiterates

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has once again reiterated that his party will not enter into any electoral alliances.

Speaking at an interaction with party cadres in Pokhara on Wednesday, Dahal urged leaders and cadres to remain vigilant against rumors of electoral alliances and seat-sharing agreements.

“We are not in favor of forming alliances. We want to become the largest party in the House of Representatives by winning the trust and confidence of the people through our own strength,” Dahal said.

He also called on party leaders and cadres to intensify election campaigning.

“I urge you to devote the next three weeks to the party. Leaders and cadres must make maximum efforts to make the NCP the largest party in the election being held under difficult circumstances,” he added.

Dahal also said the NCP was getting stronger with every passing day. “This is not something that I alone am saying. Even our opponents, opposition political parties, intellectuals, and journalists have begun saying that the NCP is performing better than expected,” Dahal said. “Earlier, they used to look down on us and say we would win very few seats. But now they are saying that the NCP has entered the competition and that the contest will be among four parties.”

Dahal also said the NCP, the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party are engaged in a tough contest in elections across the country. “This is something everyone has accepted. I believe that in the next 10 to 15 days, an environment will emerge showing that the NCP has overtaken others and moved ahead,” he said. “If we all work hard, that situation is already taking shape.”
