KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the party won’t remain united if it forms an alliance in yet another election.
Speaking at an event organized by the Nepal Press Union in Kathmandu on Thursday, Thapa said that the NC will not engage in forming any alliances for the upcoming election. “If the party enters into another alliance, it risks internal division. A coalition might be established after the election to govern, but only one party within the coalition should lead the government for a designated period, with others taking their turn,” he added.
Thapa further said that it would not be acceptable for the NC if a public holiday were declared on the ‘People’s War Day’ (February 13 this year).
“Members of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly have approached us following the events in the Koshi Province, requesting a change in the government leadership,” he added. “The NC should address the concerns of its members and the general public and correct itself.”
