KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has announced its withdrawal of support from the government led by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Krishna Prasad Poudel, the chief secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Party Office, stated that the decision to withdraw support was made during a meeting of the central work performance committee of the party held on Monday. “The meeting has decided that NC will stay in the opposition and will refrain from involving in failing and forming of governments,” Poudel stated. “NC has decided to retract its vote of confidence extended to the government.”
Dahal abandoned the Nepali Congress to forge a new alliance with CPN-UML and other minor parties on Monday. He inducted new ministers from CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party and Maoist Center to his cabinet on Monday itself.
The decision means Prime Minister Dahal will need to undergo a floor test in the House of Representatives within a month.
