‘NC will attempt to break the ruling coalition in presidential election’

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Chandra Bhandari has said that Nepali Congress (NC) will make one more effort to break the ruling coalition during the presidential election.

Talking to media persons following the election of Devraj Ghimire of CPN-UML to the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhandari said it is only natural that NC is making efforts to break the ruling coalition that includes CPN (Maoist Center) as the party had also broke coalition with NC to form government.

Stating that NC failed in its efforts to break the ruling coalition during the Speaker’s election, he said the party will make one more attempt during the election for President.

The term of President Bidya Devi Bhandari is expiring in the second week of March. The President and Vice President Electoral Act, 2017 requires the EC to fix the election date one month before the term expires.
