NC warms up for local-body by-polls Nepali Congress Central Party Office

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has entrusted the responsibility of providing the necessary coordination and facilitation for the upcoming local-level by-polls to be held on December 1 to its General Secrtary Bishwa Prakash Sharma.

Sharma chairs the Local Level Election Coordination Committee of the party. The committee has decided to make maximum possible efforts for the victory of its candidates in the by-polls.

The Election Commission is holding the local-body by-polls to fill 44 vacant positions in local governments.

NC has said that its local committees have begun the process of recommending candidates for the vacant positions.

The meeting also nominated leaders to coordinate with local party committees in all seven provinces. Deputy General Secretaries Mahalaxmi Upadhyay ‘Dina’, Bhishma Raj Angdembe and Mahendra Yadav have been given the responsibility of Bagmati, Koshi and Madhesh, respectively, while Deputy General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar will look after Karnali and Gandaki provinces.

Similarly, Central Working Committee Members NP Saud and Pushpa Bhusal have been given the responsibility of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini, respectively.

Furthermore, the head of the party’s Central Information, Communication, and Publicity Department, Min Bishwakarma, has been given the responsibility of coordinating the publicity and promotion, and the head of the Local Level Coordination Department, Madhu Acharya, has been given the responsibility of local-level coordination.

Central Working Committee Member Nanu Bastoala has been given the responsibility of managing the secretariat.

Two positions of District Coordination Committee Chairperson, one mayor and one deputy mayor of municipalities, two chairpersons and four deputy chairpersons of rural municipalities and 34 ward chairpersons are lying vacant.
