NC urges government to hold talks with agitating teachers

KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the government to immediately hold talks with protesting teachers.

Nain Singh Mahar, head of the NC’s Education Department, issued a statement on Monday expressing concern over the ongoing protest of school teachers and its impact on school education. He said the government needs to listen to the legitimate demands of the teachers.

“The government must take the legitimate demands of teachers seriously,” the statement read. “The Prime Minister himself should participate in talks after creating a conducive environment for enacting the School Education Bill.”

Citing the disruption of educational activities in schools across the country due to the ongoing protest of teachers, the NC has called on the government to resolve the issue through talks.

Teachers across the country have been protesting in Kathmandu since Wednesday, to put pressure on the government for the early enactment of the Scool Education Bill.
