KATHMANDU: Coalition partners CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have issued a whip to their members of the House of Representatives mandating their compulsory presence in the House of Representatives meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

The whip has been issued to ensure the mandatory attendance of lawmakers as the government is presenting five ordinances for a decision in the lower house on Wednesday.

“Honorable Members, as ordinances are to be presented for decision in the House of Representatives meeting at 1 pm on Wednesday, your mandatory presence is requested,” reads the message issued by UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, according to a UML lawmaker.

Earlier, the government could not present six ordinances in the National Assembly for a decision due to a lack of quorum.

The government holds a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives to pass the ordinances. However, it lacks the required numbers in the National Assembly.
