KATHMANDU: CPN-UML and Nepali Congress (NC) are preparing to stake their claim to form the government as soon as the President calls for it.
CPN-UML leader Surya Thapa said in a Facebook post that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli signed the claim letter at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.
NC and UML have agreed to lead the government turns, with Oli leading the government for the next one and half years. NC President Deuba will then lead the government till th next election.
The Office of the President is expected to invite political parties to stake a claim for government formation later today.
A UML leader told Himal Press that the two parties will make a claim for government formation as soon as the President invites the parties to stake a claim for government formation.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was relieved of his position earlier on Friday after failing the floor test. A total of 194 members voted against his proposal.
