KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have urged the party leadership to hold the party’s general convention at the earliest.
During the Central Working Committee meeting of the party held at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Thursday, leaders urged the leadership to start preparations for the party’s 15th General Convention seriously and convene it without further delay.
NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that no formal proposal regarding the convention schedule was presented in the meeting. “The Central Working Committee will take an appropriate decision based on the suggestions of members,” Mahat said. “Leaders speaking on Thursday also called for an investigation into the incidents that occurred during the recent Gen Z movement and demanded punishment for those responsible.”
According to Mahat, leaders also said the government needs to focus on preparations for the upcoming elections, he added.
Leaders like Dr Shekhar Koirala, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Devendra Raj Kandel, Shiva Prasad Humagain, Rajiv Koirala, Guru Raj Baral and Nrip Bahadur Wad spoke on the occasion.
Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, who chaired the meeting, briefed members on the latest political developments.
