NC leaders speaking recklessly to gain media attention: Arzu

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs and Nepali Congress (NC) Central Committee member Arju Rana Deuba has expressed concern over a growing trend of party leaders speaking recklessly or blaming each other in pursuit of media attention.

Addressing a gathering of senior party workers organized by the Ilam District Committee of the party in Shree Antu on Monday, she said party leaders and cadres were making sensational statements for publicity. “In a bid to gain media coverage, some leaders are speaking even against the party,” Rana said. “While this may make an individual go viral, we must consider how much damage it causes to the party.”

She added that such behavior by leaders is fostering disillusionment among party workers, from the central level to the grassroots.

“Although the NC is a part of the government, our party leaders are among the most vocal critics of the government,” Rana said, urging party members to address any grievances or dissatisfaction through internal discussions rather than airing them publicly.
