POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the party has succeeded in uniting all the parties around its agenda.
Addressing the 1st General Convention of the Gandaki Province Committee of NC in Pokhara on Tuesday, he claimed that now all the parties are aligning with the NC’s agendas. Deuba also said that all party leaders and cadres should work in a united manner to make NC the largest party after the 2027 election. “It is not the time for factionalism; we should all work to move the party forward as a united force,” Deuba said, describing the coalition that NC has formed as a compulsion.
Also speaking on the occasion, NC General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa advised party leaders and cadres to abandon politics of enmity and hatred. Another General Secretary, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, underscored the need for party strengthening. Likewise, Joint General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar lamented that locals of Pokhara and surrounding areas were not benefiting from the newly built Pokhara International Airport.
Over 500 delegates from different districts of Gandaki Province are participating in the general convention, which will continue for two days, according to Shukra Raj Sharma, president of the Gandaki Province Committee of NC.
Meanwhile, the province committee earlier in the day removed the words ‘Save the Party from Corruption’ from the event backdrop. The decision has received heavy criticism from people on social media platforms.
