KATHMANDU: The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been postponed until Sunday.
According to party leaders, the meeting was deferred to allow further discussions after internal disputes arose over the party’s general convention.
General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma had held talks with Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka on Friday to resolve the issue. However, since the two sides failed to reach a consensus on whether to present the general convention schedule in the meeting, the meeting was postponed.
Thapa has prepared a proposal to hold a special general convention of the Nepali Congress on December 13-15.
NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said the meeting was postponed as per the proposal of the Acting President. He added that internal discussions would continue in an effort to reach a consensus.
Mahat added that since the two general secretaries were absent from Thursday’s meeting, efforts would now be made to reach a conclusion with the participation of all key members. “Efforts are being made to reconcile the differing views regarding the convention,” he added.
