Nepali Congress Central Party Office
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of its Central Working Committee (CWC), just days after concluding its previous meeting on Sunday.
According to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal, the meeting will convene at 1 pm on Tuesday at the central party office in Sanepa, Lalitpur.
In a notice issued on Monday, Dulal said office bearers, CWC members, and provincial presidents have been requested to attend the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting, however, has not been made public.
Earlier, NC had convened a meeting of its CWC on Friday to discuss the resignation offered by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa. The party deliberated on Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma’s proposal to reject the resignation.
The CWC meeting on Sunday passed Sharma’s proposal.
Since his resignation has been rejected, President Thapa is expected to chair Tuesday’s CWC meeting.
NC has scheduled a CWC meeting, just two days after its two-day CWC meeting concluded, at a time when camps of former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Shekhar Kumar Koirala are jointly preparing to call a meeting of the dissolved Central Working Committee (CWC) to challenge legitimacy of Thapa-led leadership of the party.
