KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides triggered by incessant rain since Thursday afternoon have claimed 73 lives across the country so far, while 72 are missing.

According to the Armed Police Force (APF), 36 are injured while 195 houses have been damaged. Security personnel have rescued 2,860 people from incident sites.

Kathmandu Valley alone has seen 34 deaths – 18 in Lalitpur, 11 in Kathmandu and five in Bhaktapur, while 21 are missing.

Likewise, 10 people have lost their lives in different districts of Koshi Province. According to APF, five died in Panchthar, two each in Dhankuta and Solukhumbu and one in Sundari districts.

There has been no loss of human lives in Madhesh Province so far.

Likewise, Bagmati Province, excluding three districts of Kathmandu Valley, has reported 29 deaths. According to APF, 15 people have died in Kavre, seven in Makwanpur, four in Sindhupalchowk and three in Dolakha.

No loss of life has been reported in other provinces.
