KATHMANDU: Ministry of Health and Population has entrusted the task of repairing broken medical equipment in federal hospitals to the National Innovation Center (NIC) led by Mahabir Pun.
An agreement to this end was signed on Wednesday in the presence of Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel. Dr Madan Upadhyay, chief of the Quality Measurement and Regulation Division of the ministry, and Mahabir Pun, chairperson of the Center, signed the agreement.
Minister Paudel had previously requested Pun to repair the equipment lying unused in 17 hospitals under the federal government.
According to Pun, NIC will first study the condition of the malfunctioning health equipment. Our technicians will then repair all the equipment that can be restored, he added.
Minister Paudel said he was hopeful that the equipment would be repaired by using domestic skills. “This will benefit patients while also saving money needed to buy new equipment,” he added.
