KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice President and the party’s presidential candidate, Subash Chandra Nembang, has claimed that national consensus will be reached in his name.

Talking to media persons after filing nominations for the presidential election, Nembang requested all to vote for him as he was committed to the implementation of the constitution.

“I am contesting this election as I am confident that national consensus will be reached in my name,” Nembang said.

Nembang served as the chairperson of the Constituent Assembly (CA) that issued a new constitution.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and leaders Prithvi Subba Gurung, Gokarnaraj Bista, Raghubir Mahaseth, and Chhabilal Sharma were Nembang’s proposers, while Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Julie Kumari Mahato, Dil Kumari Rawal, and Aman Kumar Maske are the seconders.

Nembang is contesting the presidential election with Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress, who has the support of seven parties in the House of Representatives.
