KATHMANDU: CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have formed an alliance in the Koshi Province for the upcoming National Assembly election.
Rebati Raman Bhandari, the UML Whip in the Koshi Province Assembly, said that the two parties have agreed in principle to create an alliance in the National Assembly election. According to the understanding reached between the two parties, UML will support RPP’s candidate in the ‘Others’ category, Uddhav Poudel, while RPP will support UML’s candidate, Rukmini Koirala, in the ‘Women’ category.
UML had initially nominated Parshuram Adhikari in the ‘Others’ category.
The ruling coalition, on the other hand, has nominated common candidates for both seats. It has fielded Krishna Prasad Sitaula from Nepali Congress in ‘Others’ category and Champa Devi Karki from CPN (Maoist Center) in the ‘Women’ category.
The Election Commission is holding a vote on January 25 to elect 19 members to the National Assembly.
