KATHMANDU: The National Assembly has approved five of the six ordinances introduced by the government in the first week of January.
A meeting of the National Assembly approved five ordinances – Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Good Governance Promotion and Public Service Delivery; Economic Procedures and Financial Accountability (First Amendment) Ordinance; Privatization (First Amendment) Ordinance; Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Improving Economic and Business Environment and Investment Promotion; and Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Cooperatives by a majority vote on Thursday.
Proposals submitted by the opposition parties on these ordinances were rejected by a majority vote.
The government, however, did not present the land-related ordinance for a decision in the upper house.
The five ordinances were approved by the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The passage of the ordinances from both houses has cleared the path for the government to bring replacement bills for these ordinances.
