Nagarik Unmukti withdraws support from Madhesh govt Nagarik Unmukti's province assembly member Urmila Devi Singh.

KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmukti Party has formally withdrawn its support from the Madhesh Province Government.

NUP province assembly member Urmila Devi Singh announced the decision during the province assembly meeting on Tuesday, accusing the government of lacking transparency and being influenced by middlemen during the budget-making process.

“A strong presence of brokers could be seen in the budget-making process. I have proof,” said Singh. “Therefore, I want to inform this assembly that the Nagarik Unmukti Party has withdrawn its support to the Madhesh government.”

While the party had initially supported the Madhesh Province Government led by Janamat Party leader Satish Kumar Singh, growing dissatisfaction and serious allegations have now led to a formal withdrawal of support.

Rift has widened between the top leadership of Nagarik Unmukti and Janamat Party, which were close to announcing their merger in April, in recent months.
